There are three major flea markets, along with smaller ones throughout the city. You are very fortunate if you are visiting Paris at the first of January or the first of July because that is the time that there are major discounts and sales.
Even if you are there without alot of money and you want to window shop you will have a great experience. You will hear people in Paris call window shopping, Lécher les Vitrines, which translates to literally licking the windows, because most of the displays look good enough to eat. Parisian shops make up a big part of the citys cultural identity. They are very crowded and alot of them are only opened for a limited amount of hours.
